‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.’ John 1:1-5 (NKJV)
That scripture is very loaded. But let’s just talk about the beginning part, John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” I believe that answers the question of this particular blog. I also know I can’t just end with that. I have recently encountered persons who claim to believe in God, but do not believe in the bible. Do not believe in heaven or hell. Do not believe in Adam and Eve. And make reference to the disbelief of a man living some 800 years, after being birthed from immaculate conception…. I was shocked when I heard this! Honestly, I didn’t think that there were people in this world who were claiming Christianity, but held these beliefs! So where have I been? You can’t say I was locked up, because I have been right there with the rest of the world….keeping to myself, my thoughts, and my life, and minding my own business. But maybe that’s the problem? I was having a conversation with another person, and they said there are three things you just don’t talk about, cause it only causes problems, starts fights, and even starts wars! You guessed it!
- Politics, and
So why are these topics sooo taboo? Why are people so afraid to talk openly about these subjects? The bible talks about all of them! But let’s not digress. I am really concerned about the perception of Christianity. I again openly admit, I guess I’ve sheltered myself. I also admit I too fell into the “we don’t talk about that,” routine.
Now about that bible. The bible was written by man, and inspired by God. We must remember that having faith in God and the miracles he has performed is the same as having faith that your direct deposited paycheck will reach your account when it is supposed to. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen……if you can have enough faith to put in your paycheck, why can’t you have the same if not more in the Bible and it’s writings?
I guess what I should have been saying from the very beginning is, if you don’t believe in the bible, then you can’t believe in God. At least not my God! See my God goes by several names, Jehovah Jireh – My provider, Jehovah Nissi – My banner, Jehovah Shalom – Lord of Peace, and Jehovah Rap ha-The Lord my healer, just to name a few. He also is a God of His word.
Unlike man, you can be certain that anything the Lord God promises you, he will come through. Some may have a hard time understanding for fear of TRUE knowledge, and many already know the TRUTH but chose to continue to run from what God has spoken into their lives…
It’s OK, I did it too. The main point is to trust and believe and to put no man before God. If you are trying to gather an understanding it’s OK. It is also human nature to fear the unknown and what we don’t understand. People tend to cover their fear by saying that they have only found a better, alternate solution. Maybe if you just tried to truly understand the Word of God for what it is, you wouldn’t need to come up with “alternate endings”?
Gotta run, but I will definitely have more on this later. Stay Blessed!
