I was reading over a few scriptures today and decided that I really wanted to get a full understanding of what Faith is! Through my reading I found that faith is reliance, loyalty, or complete trust in God! Faith is taking the unrealities of hope and making them a reality.
Let’s take a look at Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” We have all heard and read this scripture dozens of times I’m sure. At least I know I have. But how often have we honestly understood what that scripture truly meant? No. I mean really understood.
The scripture tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for. According to http://www.merriam-webster.com/, the definition of substance is physical material from which something is made. Therefore, we now know that whenever we hope for something to physically materialize, then we produce faith. When we hope we are desiring with expectation of obtainment. The key here is that it is a desire with “expectation of obtainnment”. If we do not expect to obtain those things we hope for, then we will not produce faith!
The second part of the scripture proves that it starts off as a desire and then physically materializes, “the evidence of things not seen.” Our faith is the proof that what we have hoped for, desired, and expected shall come to pass! Our faith then becomes the initiating and resulting factor.
Faith is the confidence we have in God’s promises. If we believe that God is who he says he is, and believe that he will do what he says he will do, then we demonstrate true faith. Faith is not believing in something that you can see, touch, taste, hear, or smell. It is believing without anything else but a WORD from God. We must believe that God will fulfill his promises even when we can’t see them materializing. Remember that the enemy will always try and attack the closer we are to our faith in God producing evidence of what he has promised us!
I pray that this has encouraged you, as it has for me. I know that I will continue to strive daily at increasing my faith and allowing it to work! Stay Blessed.
