A Measure of Faith

What is Faith? What does it consist of? Do I have it? How do I get it? Will it go away? Can I get it again if I lose it? These are all questions that everyone one of us finds ourselves asking at some point in our lives. But who has the answers? Where do you find them?
Well let’s begin with Romans 12:3 where the scripture tells us that, “…God has dealt to every man a measure of faith.” So what is a measure? In the past the word “measure” has simply stood for how much there is or how many there are of something that you can quantify.

What this tells us is that the “amount” of faith that each of us possesses can be quantified. There is a number that could potentially be used to show just “how much” faith we each possess! If this is the case, then that only means we each are starting with a “quantity” or an “amount” greater than zero!

If we each start with faith that is more than “none”, then it is safe to say that “everyone” has a “little” faith!

Now just like every living person has a heart, regardless of whether it is functioning at all, or even correctly, or whether we are even utilizing our heart at all, such is our faith. What do I mean? When you were created, along with the organs, and body parts, God also gave you a “measure” of faith. Regardless if you use it or not, it is there.

Today I just wanted to express to you the existence of your faith. Sometimes we feel as if we have lost it, but just like Jesus said in Luke 15:4, “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?” Jesus was telling us that when one sheep (part of your flock, congregation, or family) is lost, to leave the rest and go after the one. I believe the sam eshould be applied to your faith. If you feel that you have lost your faith, but everything else is still intact, then we must begin a faith finding mission!

Maybe the faith you had was not as much as someone else’s, but the point is..  that you had it to begin with. Relight that match of faith that was already within you, and watch what God will begin to do in your life! “…If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (Matthew 17:20, KJV)

Faith the grain of a mustard seed… that’s a measure of faith. So if it seems like you’re losing your faith, try sitting it next to the grain of a mustard seed, and I am sure you will find that your faith is sufficient!
